Goodbye Mr Perkins!
After 26 years of service...
It is with sadness that I write to you to say that Keith Perkins has decided to move on after 26 years of service to the school. He has been such a familiar face to staff, parents and children not only in his role as caretaker, but also as a lunch time supervisor. His is the cheery face you see as you come in to school in the morning and the cheery face when you leave.
He will never be forgotten here, not only for his devotion to the school and the children, but also for setting the trend for wearing shorts in winter! He now has several pupils determined to make it through winter without wearing trousers – good luck to them. Wherever you look at the school you can see little projects that Keith has worked on over the years to keep the school in shape and this is another reason we will not forget how much he has done for us.
I know that that this has not been easy for Keith but he has taken his time to make his decision. He has asked us not to plan a big assembly as he will find it very hard. We have agreed that we will all make a continuous fuss of him for the next few weeks at the gate and when you bump into him in the village.
We have set up a collection for him through the class teachers, and PAWs will use the money to buy him something special. If you would like to, please pop your donation into an envelope and mark it for Keith and hand it to your child’s teacher. Please do this fairly soon so PAWs have time to go and shop for him. The staff will contribute as they normally do in order to give him a leaving gift.
We will be advertising for a replacement in the next few days as we do not have anyone to take on this huge task immediately.
On behalf of all pupils, teachers and parents, I wish Keith all the very best for the future and he will always be welcome to visit us.
